Using online role-play with literature

Page history last edited by Richard Beach 13 years, 6 months ago

In reading the novel, Montana, 1948 (Watson), Elizabeth's students addressed the issue of institutional racism towards Native Americans relative to the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux mascot (http://roleplaymascots.blogspot.com; http://mascotroleplay.blogspot.com).  Another literature based role-play involved the reading of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Chbosky), where students used online role-play to address issues of teen drug and alcohol abuse that were present both in the book and recent news stories about school administrator actions regarding MySpace and Facebook photos (http://wallfloweronline.blogspot.com).
